The Impossible Dream -The History of Narcotics Anonymous in New York is an in-depth history of the earliest days of Narcotics Anonymous in New York State.
It begins with the story of the incredibly challenging environment that faced addicts seeking recovery in the early- to mid-twentieth century, through the formation of an early attempt at Narcotics Anonymous in the early 1950s, the establishment of NA in 1981, and ending with our first Regional convention, in 1985.
This book was eight years in the making, with hundreds of interviews and extremely rigorous fact-checking. The writing is superb. It “reads like a novel,” and does justice to the challenging, energetic genesis of Narcotics Anonymous in New York.
